The Crater Lakes National Park is located about 60km (1 hour) drive from Cairns along the Gillies Range. The Park is home to two clear blue crater lakes: Lake Barrine and Lake Eacham.
Lake Eacham is the result of a volcanic crater filled by clear blue water up to 65m deep, and is a favourite for swimming, birdwatching, canoeing, picnics and nature walks around the 3km long track.
Lake Barrine is a popular tourist spot for lunch at the Lake Barrine Teahouse, a cruise on a riverboat around the lake, and a walk around the perimeter of the lake to visit the two towering 45m tall Bull Kauri Pine trees and possibly spot some wildlife.
Amenities at the park include public toilets, BBQ and picnic areas. Please obey signage and laws/restrictions within the park to avoid accident, injury and/or damage to the park and its wildlife.
