Just 2.5 hours south of Cairns, the Cardwell Spa Pools are a popular place to swim as the unique chemistry of the rocks and water results in the breath-taking blue hues of the pools.
Due to the fluctuating nature of the water levels from its naturally fed creek, the best time to visit the Spa Pools is between May and September, although from March onwards the pools should return to their normal levels after the wet season (summer).
While visiting the Pools, the Cardwell area is also home to Attie Creek falls; a gorgeous waterfall also located on Cardwell Forest Drive. The falls are a five minute drive from the pools, and a 700m walk from the Attie Creek car park. The thin stream of the falls make this calm pool perfect for swimming, although the falls are also seasonal.
Amenities in the area include close parking, public toilets and a BBQ/picnic area.
For up to date info on the water levels at the pools and falls, as well as other info on things to do in the area, contact the Cardwell Visitor and Heritage Centre via email/phone.
