Waterfall circuit: Millaa Millaa, Zillie and Ellinjaa falls

Millaa Millaa Falls

45 Minutes from Innisfail, the Atherton Tablelands waterfall circuit starts near the small town of Millaa Millaa and includes three beautiful waterfalls: Millaa Millaa Falls, Zillie Falls and Ellinjaa Falls.

Theresa Creek Road is a 15km stretch of road that gives access to all three waterfalls, as well as offers scenic views over rolling hills and dense rainforest. The road itself is sealed and accessible by all vehicle type, although it can be narrow in some sections.

The three waterfalls on the circuit are:

Millaa Millaa Falls:

  • Height: 18.3 metres
  • "Most photographed waterfall in Australia"
  • Great for swimming
  • Easily accessed by the nearby carpark
  • Can be very busy, as it is a popular tour destination
  • Very lucky visitors have been known to spot Platypus, although this is uncommon

Zillie Falls:

  • Height: 15 metres
  • Not recommended for swimming
  • Viewing platform near carpark
  • There is a short track to view the base of the falls, but it is steep and slippery
  • From the track, it is possible to walk behind the falls, take care for slippery rocks

Ellinjaa Falls:

  • Height: 12 metres
  • Suitable for swimming
  • Accessible by nearby carpark and 200m walking track
  • Known Platypus habitat, approach quietly to chance spotting one
