Situated just 75km from Cairns, this popular swimming spot is a gorgeous scenic waterfall located in Wooroonooran National Park and fed by the east side of Queensland's tallest mountain: Bartle Frere. The swimming area and viewing decks are accessible by a 700m walk through lush rainforest from the conveniently located parking lot (the track is paved and accessible for those with wheelchairs and prams).
There are multiple walking trails that can be accessed by the falls area, including a 1.2km walk to the top of the falls, a 10km (return) Bartle Frere hike to Broken nose, and a 15km (one way) hike to the Atherton Tablelands over the back side of Bartle Frere (the latter being most suitable to fit and experienced hikers).
Amenities at the falls include a BBQ and picnic area, public toilets and convenient parking.
Please be mindful of signage and safe swimming areas to avoid accidents and injuries.
